First Leg of Trip

Spent last week in NY with my old high school "sweetheart" Larry. That is how he introduced me to people at his 50th high school reunion in Brooklyn, Coney Island last Sunday. First reunion I had ever been to and it was quite a production. People came from all over and Neil Diamond who graduated that year, sent a video because he was performing and couldn't be there. I had a great time in NY....it definitely is an exciting place to visit but as the saying goes, I wouldn't want to live there. I saw a fabulous play, All my Sons with John Lithgow, Diane Wiest and Katie Holmes. It was so awesome I did not want to leave my seat when it was over.
Went to see the Van Gough exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art with my sister, Central Park, the Village, 5th Avenue, the Guggenheim Museum and walked my feet off. It was a full on week and I met some great people.

I'm in Cleveland now with my sister and my cat Chloe...both are happy to see me, especially Chloe! She hardly leaves my side and is much more affectionate than when I left. I guess absence does make the heart grow fonder. We have some fun things planned while I'm here and I'm going to finally go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm back to California on November 1st and leave for Sydney on the 13th.

Back in my Old Home Town!

Just got back from Santa Barbara with my friend Nancy. Weather was gorgious and we just relaxed, ate good food, read, shopped and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If you haven't been to Santa Barbara, I highly recommend it. We found a pretty reasonable hotel and I would be happy to share that info with you. Our small hotel was across the street from the beach. I like this "being retired" status, even if it is temporary!

I am staying in Sebastopol with my sweet friend Teddy. We are quite happy in her small trailer...cooking, talking, watching the political scene. We saw a great movie last night...it was called Towelhead and we strongly recommend it if you are looking for a movie that really makes you think. Toni Collette is in it and she is one of my favorites. The other actors were superb and the young woman is well worth the price of admission. We have also been going to yoga and the gym. Sebastopol is where I used to live (before I moved to San Francisco) and I love it here.

I leave for NYC on October 10th for a week. Going to stay with an old high school friend who has invited me to his 50th high school reunion inBrooklyn. I will be staying with Larry and his wife Rose for a week and then heading off to Cleveland to visit my sister, niece Jennifer and grandniece Sophie for 2 weeks (not to mention my beloved Chloe who doesn't seem to be missing me at all).

Hope you are all doing well and having a good Fall. Love, auntie M

Updates and Travel Itinerary

So, after a stressful moving experience, I have landed in Santa Rosa for a week's stay at my friend Norma's. House comes equipped with own bedroom, bath, fully equipped kitchen, and a fabulous dog named Sadie who is partially taking the place of Chloe Bella! Not to mention the supreme hospitality of Norma. My sister Ginny worked so hard to help with the move that she actually said "she couldn't wait to go back to Cleveland". That should tell you a lot! And...to top it all off, she took Chloe with her since the wonderful Spirit Rock lady backed out at the last moment (for good reason, but it was a bit of a shock). Here she was (Ginny) with her giant leather backpack, her computer case and Chloe....oh my god. But they made it back to Cleveland where her good friends met her, dropped Chloe off and took her out to dinner.
Next week I will be at my friend Teddy's in Sebastopol sharing her fabulously cute Airstream trailer. It is really fun "sleeping around".

I leave for New York on October 10th for a week to attend the 50th high school reunion of my first boyfriend Larry Loonin. I have never been to a reunion...although this should be fun because it was actually the high school I would have graduated from, only 2 years later. The place it's being held is in Coney Island at an Italian Restaurant that looks like the Sopranos invaded. The music should be great!
I will be in Cleveland for 2 weeks after that visiting Chloe (not to mention my sister, niece and grandniece). I leave for Sydney on Nov. 13th for 3 months.

So, we will stay in touch by blog and I hope to figure out how to post photos before I leave.

Home for Chloe My Cat

NEEDS HOME BY AUGUST 29th

I have placed an ad on Craig's list for finding a home for my cat, Chloe. I will be traveling for 6 mos. and sadly will not be able to take her with me. She is 3 years old, affectionate and gentle. She is both an indoor and outdoor cat, although she could probably learn to live indoors.

She would do better being in a one-cat household, but she could live well with a dog. She would be the perfect companion for a senior retired person.

I would like to find a foster home for her, but I know once you have her, you will love her and not want to give her back. I need to find her a good home by August 29.

Getting Ready for Take Off

Closing up my apartment getting ready to go on the road. First stop is Ashland, Oregon. Right now, though, have to keep focused on packing up and finding a temporary home for my cat, Chloe.
